Cosmetic Surgery: Real Solutions for an Increasingly Visual World

Cosmetic surgeries are medical procedures concerned with the correction or restoration of the bodies’ form and function. They are becoming more and more common around the world as their results continue to improve the self-esteems and lives of those who have gone under the knife. As cosmetic surgery techniques advance and become even less invasive and with less scaring, a slew of new clients are willing to undergo procedures in order to see major improvements in their appearance.

Cheek Implants
One increasingly popular type of cosmetic procedure is the cheek implant. The objective of this surgery is to emphasize the cheeks on a person's face, creating a fuller, more youthful shape. To augment the cheeks, a plastic surgeon typically places a solid implant over the cheekbone, which allows for a more defined facial structure.

Chin Implants
Chin augmentation is also gaining popularity because the procedure is relatively easy for patients, while resulting in significant and noticeable changes in the silhouette and profile of the face. Chin implants can alter the facial structure by providing a better balance of facial features. Many people who have this procedure feel that their nose is too large in comparison with their chin. Therefore, chin implants are often, but not always, performed at the same time as a nose job in order to help balance facial proportions.

Eyelifts
Eyelifts are a type of cosmetic procedure, aiming to reduce bagginess from the lower eyelids and remove excess skin from the upper eyelids. Although the surgery is typically done for aesthetic reasons, it's also proven to be a helpful way to improve sight in older people whose upper eyelids sag, impairing their vision.

Facelifts
Facelifts are perhaps the most involved of cosmetic facial procedures. Its goal, of course, is to give a more youthful facial appearance. Surgeons go about this surgery using a variety of different techniques. The procedure usually involves removing some excess facial skin, with or without the tightening of underlying tissues. Then, the skin is readjusted on the patient's face and neck. This procedure is often done in combination with other surgeries, such as eyelid surgery in order to give the patient their desired look. The operations are usually performed under general anesthesia or deep twilight sleep.

The increasing possibility of using new technology is beneficial for cosmetic surgery doctors on the operating table, and convenient for patients in other ways. For instance, some cosmetic surgeons now use video chats to conduct consultations with patients who live far away. This saves patients additional expense for travel for consultations alone.

The frequency of cosmetic procedures is being influenced by people’s increased ability to be seen on a personal and public level. Despite the prominence of photo editing programs, most people still want to get permanent fixes and experience drastic change through cosmetic procedures. The increase of photo sharing, video chats, and other social media means that people are gaining more exposure. Getting cosmetic surgery allows people to keep up with the increasingly visual world and feel confident that they look their best.
